WHO WE ARE
It All Started...
Founded by missionaries Brian and Rachael Weed, Avance Nicaragua owes its start to the vision of veteran missionaries John and Karry Barnes, Rachael's parents and founders of Familia Avance Costa Rica. Brian and Rachael followed God's call on their lives to reach the people of Nicaragua, starting their first church in Managua and launching the association in May of 2003.
Since then, Avance Nicaragua has been on the front lines of fulfilling the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20. After launching our mother-church location in the heart of Managua, Avance quickly began to expand throughout the metro Managua area, northwest to León and further north along the Pan American highway close to the Honduran border. With ten official church locations, as well as regular, numerous home bible studies, a public health clinic, Christian school, sports leagues, feeding centers, and being recognized as an international NGO/Non-Profit, Avance Nicaragua continues to grow and find new ways to reach more people with the Gospel.
We aim to be an organization that welcomes anyone and everyone, that's why you'll often here us refer to ourselves as Familia Avance, and see repeated that we are churches "with a message for everyone." Whether you are young, old, single, married, divorced, alone, or in any other stage of life, we want you to be a part of our family. We believe that life should not be lived alone and without hope. We would love to help connect your family with our AvanceSports leagues, our AvanceKids and Jovenes al Extremo ministries, as well as our camps and retreats throughout the year.
We have always had a strong connection and partnership with stateside churches who bring their teams to work with our local churches and their congregations in all types of short term trips. These trips help bond people from different backgrounds and languages that form friendships and a better understanding of brotherhood that span over many years. We have seen people participating in trips that have made life changing decisions to not only follow Christ as Savior to others who have surrendered their lives to full time Christian service and serve on a mission field today.
